all fixed up!

Well, we’re back on the road after our little “break down.” Uh, so, sort of a long story short – the tow truck driver with heavy metal facial hair, TJ, decided to completely unhook our battery and hold the positive and negative ends together for 10 seconds to totally wipe out the computer. Viola! We were able to get the car out of neutral and could drive. However, when we brought it in to the dealership the next day to have it checked out, they thought that we were totally stupid for resetting our computer (thus erasing the history so they couldn’t see what had happened) and they totally didn’t believe us anyway. “I’ve never heard of that happening ever never nerver,” said the mechanic (or something like that). Anyway, we’re already over on the Gulf side and still have 5 months or 6,000 miles on our warranty, so let’s hope that if this happens again, it’ll be within those terms.
Did I mention how many people helped us and stopped by while we were sitting on the side of the road? It was pretty incredible. I attribute the kindness to Jacob’s mean chops. At one point, there were two mechanics, tow truck TJ and Jacob. All that unique facial hair almost looked like an ‘N Sync reunion.
We’re now in Homosassa Springs, where I thought we could watch manatees and frolic about on hiking and biking paths. Except I didn’t do my research and all Homosassa Springs really is just a zoo, and for the cost of an expensive dinner for us, I’m not going to pay to see things I can somewhere, somehow, see for free. Instead we took an awesome bike ride through a scary, desolate, swampy forest. Jake is going to write about it later, so I won’t steal his fire.
Oh! But we’re staying at a private RV park, not a state park, but it’s not too bad. However, this will give you an idea of the flavor of the people we’re staying with. We had just set everything up when Jacob sees a lady and her dressed-up miniature poodle coming down the way, and as everyone knows, Jake loves poodles, so he grabbed me and dragged me over to pet the poodle with him. The poodle had a manicure! On all paws! Bright pink! The lady started talking about how great Princess’s, or Baby’s, manicures always are and how they never chip. I told her that maybe she should get manicure from Baby’s beautician, but she didn’t think that was funny at all. She just said “Well Princess’s nail polish is for animals.” Hmph. Then she proceeded to tell us how Baby was the hit of election night, as she had dressed her up as Sarah Palin and she had Mc Cain-Palin stickers on her and she was the cutest thing ever and everyone loved her. We held our tongues.
Ok, I’m going to make some coffee. I can’t believe I actually wrote without having coffee! This post must be a total bore.
